Fitness/Nutrition - Shaker
The Hydra Cup is the only shaker cup that can carry two different drinks at one time, most commonly the pre and post workout shake. It saves you from the hassle of having to carry multiple shakers around, which is nice. For only $12, I think the HydraCup is well worth the investment.
It was created because current shaker bottles are limited to holding only one drink at a time. If you take a shake before and after your workout you are forced to take two shaker cups to the gym. Or you might have to wait too long after exercising to take a protein shake, which can prolong the recovery process of your muscles. Either way, unnecessary time is spent cleaning and refilling extra shaker bottles that build up in your car, gym bag, and dishwasher.
The Hydra Cup is a shaker for your pre and post workout shake at it's most basic level. That's what I have primarily used it for over the past several weeks.
It was designed so the average gym goer wouldn't need to carry two separate shakers around, which can be annoying. It was designed for this, but the creators, as well as people who have purchased it have found plenty of other uses for the Hydra Cup.
Yes, you can use it strictly for a pre/post workout shake, however you can also use it for various other things. Such as: drink & storage (money, keys, etc.) holder, Ice on one side and drink on the other, Various drink mixes (alcohol, etc.) and lastly you can use the removable caps as a mini scoop (just in case you lost your scoop). The uses for it are only limited by your imagination
Now to use it, just fill each side with water, put in the powder (or whatever you are using), snap on the strainers, put on the lid, shake and you are good to go.
The Hydra Cup eliminates the need to carry around multiple shakers to the gym.
There aren't too many downsides to the Hydra Cup, but there are a few. One thing I don't like is that if you want to put more than one scoop of protein powder on one side, you aren't able to put in a lot of water and it's hard to blend when there isn't a lot of water. However, I found that using one scoop of powder works perfectly.
Another thing I found to be annoying is when you go to clean it, you literally have 4-6 (the lid, the 2 strainers, the container, two caps) separate parts to clean, which is can be a pain.
The two caps are removable (my guess is for easier cleaning and to use them as scoopers) as they snap on and off; but when you go to open it, they can sometimes pop off. Not a big deal, but something to watch out for.
The Hydra Cup is the only shaker cup that can carry two different drinks at one time, most commonly the pre and post workout shake. It saves you from the hassle of having to carry multiple shakers around, which is nice. Much better than the standard shaker and for only $12, I think the Hydra Cup is well worth the investment.
Make it easier to get your pre and post workout shake in.
